Description:    Create a quilt with a modern, contemporary flair. This quilt was designed by Tula Pink using a series of 60- degree triangles. We will be using her book “Quilt with Tula and Angela.” In the Big Hex Quilt, the scattered triangles come together to form one central hexagon. Inside the large hexagon, smaller hexagons pop up for a dramatic effect. If you like puzzles as I do, you’ll love the challenge of placing each triangle in a pleasing color arrangement to form smaller hexagonal designs.

Thinking of quilting this yourself or sending it out to a longarm quilter? Longarm quilter Angela Walters gives you quilting diagrams and ideas on how to quilt this top.

This is a great quilt to help you use up your stash of fabrics. I decided to use shades of green, but your color theme could be any color you desire. I love the dramatic effect of smaller hexagons which form this large hexagon.

This is a 3-class quilt. In the first class we will be sewing your strips and cutting all your hexagonals. In the second class we will be placing the hexagonals in a pleasing color arrangement to get them ready to sew your rows of triangles. And in the third class, we will discuss how to get those perfect points when joining your rows and sewing your hexagonals together to make your 78” x 75 ½” quilt.
